Food Assistance Program
In Africa, hunger is a constant, chronic pain gnawing away at hungry children. Starving children in Africa can, and should, become a thing of the past. We must put an end to starvation in Africa and we can’t do it without you. Right now, children are living on the brink of famine and millions of girls and boys need emergency food assistance to survive. The Succour has many proven ways to help stop hunger in Africa and beyond. Thanks to generous people like you, The Succour is already working in countries hard hit by food shortages – providing nutritious food and helping families get the hunger relief they need to get back on their feet. We’re also running emergency health clinics that provide lifesaving care for children suffering from deadly severe acute malnutrition and the diseases that ravage little ones weakened by hunger.
Our Medical Program sponsors medical professionals in a variety of fields who have chosen to remain in Africa and work in makeshift and/or field hospitals. Medical teams comprised of physicians, nurses, and technicians put them selves at great risk of violence by continuing to treat victims (Children who are affected by crisis). Furthermore, medical staff, ambulances, and hospitals are regular targets of bombing campaigns and assassination attempts. Medical personnel who stay are risking their lives to serve civilians who are caught in the cross fire. The efforts of these medical teams are invaluable. The Succour seeks to help medical teams in Africa. The Medical Program provides financial assistance to medical professionals to purchase necessary supplies, medication, equipment, and salaries.
Educational Sponsorship Program
Education is the road that children follow to reach their full potential in life. Many children in Africa do not get a quality education where they can learn and develop. To advance learning, The Succour supports education programs for children in the classroom and at home.
- We train teachers to engage their students through more effective teaching practices.
- We coach parents and caregivers to help their children learn early on, so they are prepared to enter school.
- We offer ways for parents and community volunteers to get kids reading and doing math outside of school hours.
- We introduce children to the power of artistic expression — drawing, painting, music, drama, dance and more — to help them heal, learn and do better in school.
- We make sure that children don’t stop learning during a crisis, and we help to keep kids healthy so they don’t fall behind or drop out.
Portable Water Supply
Access to clean, safe water is a catalyst for change and the first step to elevating communities from a cycle of sickness and poverty to one of health and hope.
Imagine a world where everyone has access to clean water… where mothers can provide safe water to their children… where sickness doesn’t rob those children of their education and childhood. Imagine a world where money doesn’t have to be spent purchasing medication for preventable diseases, but is, instead, spent feeding their children. Imagine a world where parents can feel healthy enough to work and earn a living so they can help change their world for the better.
